Nature can be a beautiful thing to observe. The majesty of seeing a caterpillar emerge from its cocoon as a graceful butterfly, for instance. These facts we recently uncovered, however, are pretty much the opposite of beautiful.
Each of these animals found in the wild are hiding disgusting, terrifying, or down right spooky secrets.
1.) Certain horned lizards defend themselves by squirting blood from their eyes. Uh, neat?

2.) Great white sharks have great senses of smell: they can smell blood up to 3 miles away.

12.) Snakes can fly. Well, sort of. Flying snakes can glide across the sky for up to 330 feet, and they can even change directions mid-flight!

14.) Vampire bats aren’t just fictional. They really do live on blood. Yum!
